Both dudes in this example live on earth and have 24 hours in a day with which they can do what they choose.
Each likes coffee. The second dude has a nice coffee machine that grinds up the beans for him, steams the coffee through the grounds into a thermal pot. The first dude boils coffee with water he used to boil pasta after a long day on the bicycle in a far away land. Both dudes get to enjoy their coffee. On that day, the dude with the pasta water had a more surreal coffee experience, but both dudes enjoyed the coffee. The first dude put some real energy into his coffee. The second dude paid money for his coffee, which he had earned a few months earlier, or maybe the day before. It cost him about 90 seconds of work, that pot of coffee, which he shared with another person.

To become wise, one must wish to have certain experiences and run, as it were, into their gaping jaws. This, of course, is very dangerous; many a wise guy has been swallowed.
