One of the best parts of rock crawling is only observable when someone gets in a jam. Shear an engine mount, vapor lock the motor, accidentally go into reverse on a loose steep rocky incline and get stuck; it doesn't matter. Once you're in a jam you are the VIP of the party. The group isn't out there to get into jams on purpose, but then a jam happens, it gets fun. No one wants the problem, per se, and no one would complain if you the whole group gets off the trail without any drama, but something about winching or towing or welding while out on the trail, and using your brains to solve a mechanical and logistical problem, everyone gets a kick out of that. Everyone feels good and everyone smiles. Most important no one gets left behind and no one doesn't get help
Earlier today my friend's Audi shit the bed as he pulled into his underground downtown apartment parking garage. Fuel pump most likely but that bitch wasn't starting. He called the overweight female property employee who helped him push his car out of the way in the tight garage. He got the car into a parking space at least. He knew he had to get the Audi A4 out of that cramped garage, but a tow truck would never fit into the cramped space. Luckily he knew a rock crawler who would be glad to help.
