Making fun of the USA

Vince the navajo investment banker was talking to carolyn when I returned from the downstairs bathroom at the hotel magnolia. Trying to make small talk, vince was envisioning the future of carolyn's career, first from financial reporting manager to it's natural successor position, cfo, from which the move to ceo was a foregone conclusion. Carolyn laughed off this strange come on, and told him that the oil and gas production industry was not for her; she was interested in something to do with natural foods. Vince was following along as she spoke and quickly responded. "Perishable food distribution" he paraphrased for her.

Quickly after I returned, vince the navajo investment banker recognized that I was at the bar with this lovely financial reporting manager so he asked me too of my profession. I was happy to share with him this and that about my role for the real estate company and we got into a fun back and forth about risk and finance and leverage and what not. He covers colorado in his role as a navajo investment banker so was in town to talk to several companies in need of finance this and that. I was searching for information about his view of the risk profile of these various customers/targets, but he was too used to telling the version of his job most people like to hear. "Such and such company does this and that, and I am an investment banker." But vince was a good dude and probably not a bad navajo investment banker. We did talk about accretive yield and this made vince the navajo investment banker visibly and admittedly excited.

This navajo investment banker was fun to talk to and after a few more minutes of conversation about finance, he showed us some pictures of his daughter with hillary clinton. It was at a luncheon and he brought her along. He had done some homework and was prepared to address mrs. clinton appropriately and had trained his daughter to politely address the former first lady as "madame secretary," which the young lady did. According to vince, hillary then dropped to a knee and told the young daughter of vince the navajo investment banker that "you should call me hillary" and this made vince very proud that his daughter was on a first name basis with this woman. It was a touching vignette, especially the part about vince's late mother fixing up vince's daughter's hair for this meeting. It was nice to talk to vince the navajo investment banker.
